Special

After 13 years of advocacy planning and community action, Ser Seshs Ab Heter-C. M. Boxley will finally reveal why in 1995 he chose the historic Forks of the Road enslavement markets site as the driving engine for helping to achieve equal history and tourism democracy.

Description of the Signs:

  • The Forks of the Roads as a hub of United States domestic "slave trade."

  • Eyewitness accounts of "slave" trading at the Forks of the Roads in the 1850s.

  • Franklin and Armfield Company, kingpin enslavement dealers from Alexandria, Virginia.

  • "Ex-slaves" as Union Army Civil War Freedom Fighters including the entire roster of the 58th United States Colored Infantry Regiment stationed in Natchez, Mississippi. Also a listing of local Union Navy sailors (African Descent).

  • Researched by Ser Seshs Ab Heter-C. M.  Boxley, Natchez, Mississippi.

  • Designed by Renee Shakespeare, Jackson, Mississippi.

  • Manufactured by GS Images, Hagerstown, Maryland.

  • Funded by private citizens’ donations to the City of Natchez’s Forks in the Road fund established by the Board of Alderpersons at the request of Ser Seshs Ab Heter-CM Boxley five years ago. Budget approved by present Mayor and Board of Aldermen.

  • Installment of bench pad and interpretive signs performed by Natchez Public Works Department, and grading of grounds by Adams County through the directions of Supervisor Daryl Grennell.

  • Installment of water by Natchez Waterworks through David Gardner, Brett Brinegar, and Mayor West.
