Dedication to Honor Frederick
Douglas and
General William T. Sherman
Dedicated to the appearances of African-American
abolitionist, Frederick Douglas who spoke in Templar Hall on June 6, 1856, and
to General William Tecumseh Sherman after the Civil War.

Plaque Two on the east side of Sandusky Street
Dedication of Wall Plaque to
Honor the Civil War Troops Trained at Camp Delaware
"Camp Delaware" USCT Commemoration
Dedicated to the 127th Ohio Voluntary Infantry
company of African-American soldiers who were trained at Camp Delaware. A
famous photograph of the soldiers shown lined up in Sandusky Street in 1864,
will be reproduced on the plaque.
Civil War re-enactors group will dedicate the
plaques and then march down Sandusky Street to Oak Grove Cemetery. They will lay
a wreath at the tomb of fifteen unknown African-American Civil War soldiers who
were trained at Camp
Delaware.
